Today I am reviewing a young Aussie band that's been hitting the scene pretty hard lately. Having reviewed them before I knew what to expect and I've seen them play live many times. I can tell you now that this band has a lot of potential and a record label had better hurry up and grab these guys while they can! I've been given a copy of their new album 'Duality' and
I can't wait to hear the latest works so let's get into it!

Take The Plunge – An intense introduction into this album with some good guitar riffs and drumming pace. The speed keeps you tuned in as the vocals kick in. The power filled vocals ignite the pace, which eventually take us to a nice, lengthy lead guitar at 02:55. Overall an amazing power metal track with an old school essence you won’t find too easily anymore.

“See the path laid out before me, But there’s no signs on the road, The future is blind before me, Which way to go…”

Enough Is Enough – The title track which I have reviewed once before off their EP. I must admit this sounds a lot better and the changes are far more effective. There is more oomph in the vocals and they flow so much better; matured. The power in their music is great and most impressive. The sound mix has improved and help to balance it all out. A fine example of Australian power metal brilliance.

“Keep on believing you're living your life your own way, Their influence just grows every day, All that you hear you will instantly trust, What we're shown as diamonds turns out to be rust...”

Duality – The clarity in the music within this CD is excellent. The guitar riffs are strong yet not overpowering and when the guitar lead comes into it, it also remains balanced. The drums too have been recorded well and keep their pace. The vocals are held well and harvest much power. This particular song is quite catchy and would be good for any moshpit.

“You don’t know me, I don’t even know myself, Can’t control me, I will fight you til my dying breath schizophrenia…”

Confusion – This recording really sounds fresh and crisp. The musical introduction to this piece lasts for about 01:50 and paves the way for those angsty power metal vocals. Again the pace is nice and fast and releases another mean lead at 03:18. At about 04:00 we find ourselves amidst a slow tempo change and insightful contemplations. Of course with such thoughts it is destined to be a struggle and amidst this we dwell and are basically left.

“Why must I feel this pain? Just don’t know what to do, It’s happening again, Been spat out again and used…”

Stranded – A calming and sombre guitar melody changes the pace for the album and sets the scene within us. Enter the dramatic change for an angst ridden release. All the changes are smooth and guide you through its soulful journey. There is some fantastic double kick in here along with some more great riffs and another good lead. Unbeknownst to the listener there is a sudden and unexpected end to the track. Alas, it is always best to leave the listener wanting more!

“I wait here for the dawn, but it never seems to come, this night keeps dragging on, Will I ever see the sun? See the world now turn away…”

Helpless – This is the longest track on the album at 07:09 and another track off their EP so I’m familiar with its structure and I must say that I am impressed with the clarity this time around. There are many changes from the original version and knowing that makes this seem so much more matured. I am really impressed when a band can truly contemplate their own music and rip it apart and make any necessary changes without too much of a drama. They have definitely altered this to perfection! All the vocals have been amended and work so well now. I’m impressed! The double drum kicks, the guitar... the whole lot!! Awesome job guys!

“I see the faces, Staring up imploring to me, I feel their anger, As they pull me back down to my knees, I want to save you, But you won't even let me try, I feel your apathy, But why the fuck won't you try...”

Darker Half – Another track off their EP and again I am impressed with the subtle differences. The vocals seem so much stronger, the drums seem more fluent and the guitars seem effortless now somehow. However, I still wonder how Vo can pull off those amazing vocal screams!

“Tried to scream, Can't find my voice, Been denied of every choice, Why is it that they can't see, The misery they're causing me...”

Invasion – Well paced guitars and drums and crazy vocal pitches make this another great track. There is nothing dull about this album thus far and there has obviously been a lot of effort put into it.

“I see the terror in your eyes, Been forced to fight just to survive, Always lived in peace before, Shattered lives destroyed by war…”

Holocaust – The only other track off their EP and it too has made it onto this full length album. It was my favourite on their EP when I reviewed it because it was so deathly. And I am pleased to say that hasn’t changed! It’s a total modification to this album and highly unexpected as an addition. It sounds heavier than the original too, though that may just be the sound engineer working to perfection. Alas, it rocked then and it rocks now!

“Senseless violence, Breaks the silence, Thousands slaughtered, More were tortured, Deadly chamber no escaping, Careless for the lives they're taking…”

Heads Are Gonna Roll – Nice guitar riff filled introduction sets the pace for another fast moving track. Awesome drumming in here along with a few good little guitar leads. The vocals maintain their strength and power. Good track!

“Oppression still lives on, The monarchy stands strong, They take til nothings left, Then start on back again…”

Anthem For Doomed Youth – The last track on the album and it’s just as powerful and well paced as every other. There is a variation in the vocals here with both clean, power filled vocals and a hint of deathly vocals. Impressive guitar leads compliment the entire musical structure and those drums just keep on belting out a brilliant pace. My only dilemma on this entire album is the very last part when the music ends and the vocals are, I’m guessing, meant to fade out yet are cut off. An unfortunate mishap to what would have been a brilliant album.

“And as the sun has nearly set, Upon this wasteland of regret, The darkening horizon comes, To lead the way…”

In essence, this album is almost perfect and has included improved versions from their EP ‘Enough is Enough’. As I mentioned, the band has obviously been very busy considering each piece and pulled off a great album. I am still concerned as to how they let that last bit by them though! Alas, the CD sleeve has all the goodies; pix, info, lyrics and so on. It is presented well and well worth the purchase! This band has been very busy striving to improve their position in the scene releasing a music video, their new album and getting some great touring opportunities. So if you haven’t checked them out yet, then you are missing out on some bloody good Aussie metal! Great album and I highly recommend you get yourself a copy.
